Study re-registration - what is it? #

You must re-register in good time for each semester (with the exception of the first). This means that you intend to continue studying and want to be enrolled.

Re-registration at TUM is very simple: you must pay the relevant tuition fee by the deadline. These are explicitly no longer tuition fees and are paid to the Studierendenwerk. The MVV Semesterticket (also called Sockelticket) will no longer apply from the winter semester 23/24. The deadlines for the respective semesters are 15.02. and 15.08. for the summer semester and winter semester respectively.

All current information (e.g. amount currently due) from TUM can be found here. You can find out under which keyword and to which account you have to transfer money on TUM Online. There is also a tutorial.

If you are de-registered, you can of course reclaim your payment.

If you miss the re-registration deadline, it’s not over yet. The administration is usually extremely accommodating, especially as they have to allocate literally thousands of students. So if you are a few days late, simply transfer the money. If your re-registration is significantly late or not received at all, you will be de-registered for the semester! You can, of course, re-enrol for the following semester, but this is also a lot of work!

Semester fee for the sommer semester 2025 #

The semester fee is currently €85, 100% of which goes to the Studierendenwerk. Compared to previous semesters, there is no longer a contribution to the MVV, as the basic ticket has been abolished.
